| Bill T . | Morristown, NJ | December 4, 2008 | It is imperative that we have a truly conservative voice for the people in our Senate. Principles over power. |
| Shirley S . | Denton, TX | December 4, 2008 | If the Republican Party ever hopes to regain the majority in both houses of congress, it is imperative that advocates of spending and taxing controls be put in positions of leadership. JIM DeMINT is just such a leader. SENATOR McCONNELL, AS ONE WHO CONTRIBUTED TO YOUR RE-ELECTION CAMPAIGN, I URGE YOU TO APPOINT JIM DeMINT TO THE FINANCE COMMITTEE. Please exercise your leadership role to restore fiscal and social conservatism to our Party. Thank you. |

| James S . | Fredericksburg, VA | December 4, 2008 | Conservatives need to once again be the party of less and more efficient government which means lower taxes and less pork. |
| Melvin S . | Indio, CA | December 4, 2008 | We need to stop the flow of taxpayer money into any private business. This is not what free enterprise is all about. We are being fleeced by the "high" finance people and it needs to stop. In fact, wouldn't it be nice if those people had to pay back the money we gave them like I do when I take money from the government or a bank. Please, get Sen. De Mint on a committee where he can shake up the liberal spenders on both sides of the isle. The republicans in congress at this time should be very vocal and very conservative with the people's money. |
| William T . | Rio Rancho, NM | December 4, 2008 | My wife and I both support Sen DeMint's appointment to the Finance Committee. We need leadership and it should begin now with DeMint and Flake. |

| Richard A . | Hicksville, NY | December 4, 2008 | x |
| R Scott M . | Hayden Lake, ID | December 4, 2008 | Republicans must project their core beliefs. Sen. DeMint is the one to do so. |
| Carol C . | Greenville, KY | December 4, 2008 | It is high time that Republicans start acting like conservatives again and stop trying to outspend the Democrats. There should be a huge clue in the losses that Republicans suffered in the elections of 2006 and 2008. Voters are saying in the only the way available to them that they want true conservative principles back in play in government. Please appoint Sen. Jim DeMint to the Finance Committee. |
| Madge W . | Longmont, CO | December 4, 2008 | I believe that Senator DeMint's appointment to the Finance Committee would be an asset to our nation. |
| Vincent M . | Naples, FL | December 4, 2008 | x |
| John d . | Morrilton, AR | December 4, 2008 | The Republican party needs to get back to basics, including fiscal responsibility. Pandering to special interests pushes more of us toward the Constitution Party and the Libertarian Party. |
| Roy H . | Angwin, CA | December 4, 2008 | The Republican Party needs to stand for individual rights, individual freedom, and individual responsibility! In other words, the Republican Party needs to get back to the Constitution, which gives us a very limited form of government. A limited form of government severly restricts the wasteful use of our tax dollars, and holds Congress accountable for their wasteful spending! |
| Anita M . | Portsmouth, OH | December 4, 2008 | Until I see major change that is conservative in nature and putting Senator Demint on the Finance Committee, a step in the right direction, I will not support the Republican Party in way, shape or form. |
| Gladys G . | New Bern, NC | December 4, 2008 | x |
| GEORGE K . | NEEDVILLE, TX | December 4, 2008 | x |
| Byron B . | Charleston, SC | December 4, 2008 | I want Jim DeMint placed on the Finance Committee where he can better protect my tax dollars. Thank you. |
| Tom & Carol P . | New Bethlehem, PA | December 4, 2008 | We are totally fed up with the wishy-washy GOP leadership. The appointment of Sen. DeMint, a true Conservative (not just on Election Day) to the Finance Committee would go along way in restoring our faith in the Republican Party. |

| Lloyd G . | Raleigh, NC | December 4, 2008 | x |
| Cynthia M . | Pahrump, NV | December 4, 2008 | The Republican Party needs to get back to basics. All power comes from we the people and we are tired of wasteful spending. |
| lee ann h . | Orland Park, IL | December 4, 2008 | Sen McConnell, I implore you to put a Conservative on the Finance Committee and Sen DeMint is one of those people. We need fiscal conservatism again and it can only come from Republicans, but not moderate big spending, bailout Republicans. You, Senator, are the only one who has the power to do this so please put him on the Committee. |

| Jim H . | Travelers Rest, SC | December 4, 2008 | x |

| Jim W . | Blandon, PA | December 4, 2008 | x |
| George S. M . | Oro Valley, AZ | December 4, 2008 | Congress has bankrupt our country! The ONLY way we will ever recover is to replace those politicians who view their main objective is to line their own pockets by getting re-elected by providing earmarks. We NEED good men like Senator DeMint to lead us out of this morass we now find our country in. |
| Charles K . | Forest Park, GA | December 4, 2008 | Sen. DeMint is a true example of conservatism, and staunck on holding Congress responsible for any and all spending that we, the taxpayers, are footing the bill for. With him, the 111th Congress will have to listen to the people more, and answer to us for all frivolous acts spending our hard earned dollars. Place him on the Committee so he can do the American people good, and set us back on the road to prosperity. |

| Janet G . | Chino Valley, AZ | December 4, 2008 | x |
| Marilyn B . | Gilbert, AZ | December 4, 2008 | Government waste is despicable, where we need change is for our representatives to take a hard line on spending and govern like responsible adults. Stop pork barrel spending now. |

| Perry A . | Peyton, CO | December 4, 2008 | Sen McConnell, please consider Jim DeMint for the Finance Committee. Republicans will not regain control of Congress if they do not steer a new path for Government. It has to be a path the voter can believe in. You may not like it but voters do not see much, if any, difference between the two political parties at this point in time. With the Republican immage as poor as it is it was not surprising to see the Democrates win this election. Many a voter decided that this Nation is going nowhere fast under the Republicans so we may as well give the other party the nod, and they did. There was no choice of ideas between the parties. We need to stand for something. The American voter is not impressed with how the present economic mess is being handled. Some lasting impressions are being built into at least two generations of Americans as we observe the outright inequity being debated in Washington on who is important and what business is allowed to fail and who is bailed out. Forget truth, it's all about perception. This "me first" attitude has been built into our society for years so it's no wonder we're polarized over most all issues of National concern. Support Sen DeMint and gi...[trimmed for length] |

| david r . | Phoenix, AZ | December 4, 2008 | The American public hasn't shifted leftwards. We still don't trust big government. The GOP loses popularity when we stray from DeMints smaller, less-intrusive-government message. Make the GOP motto "keeping government intrusion out of your pockets, your bedroom, and your home", and the GOP will dominate every election. |
| Cathy W . | Chula Vista, CA | December 4, 2008 | x |
| Anthony N . | Tierra Verde, FL | December 4, 2008 | Congress is bankrupting our country. Stop the bailouts and pork spending. It is way past time for congress to get serious about all the wasteful spending. The Energy and Education depts. would be a good place to start. |

| Cindy K . | Reynoldsburg, OH | December 4, 2008 | x |
| Jill B . | Laurens, SC | December 4, 2008 | Jim DeMint would reform the tax code and all the pork barrel spending. He should be on the Finance Committee so Americans stand a chance of honest government. |
