Al G .Ashburn, VADecember 3, 2008The Republican Party needs to support the principles of an open economy, smaller, less-intrusive government and more individual freedom. One step in the right direction is to appoint Senator DeMint to the Finance Committee.

Chris J .Richmond Heights, MODecember 3, 2008I paid $80,000 in federal income taxes this year, and I am very unhappy with the way congress has redistributed that money to people who took ill-advised risks (lenders), people who made ill-advised personal decisions (home borrowers) and people who are just plain incompetent (Detroit). I have a lot of control over how much I work, and thus how much I pay in taxes. If you want to have credibility with me, if you want me to work hard and pay more taxes, you need to return to your small government, fiscally responsible roots. Currently, I plan to go on strike. I don't plan to work hard when my money is confiscated to subsidize incompetence.

Alfred, Jr. A .Winston-Salem, NCDecember 3, 2008The Republican Party, home to Abraham Lincoln, used to be for "of the People, by the People, and for the People" and needs to get back to its core before we become totally Communist while pledging our future to the People's Republic of China.
Brad L .Sewickley, PADecember 3, 2008do the right thing
Hillary G .Alto, MIDecember 3, 2008If the Republican party wants to gain its strength back it needs to remember where its roots are: lower taxes and small government. Senator DeMint understands this and is the future for the GOP. Make it DeMint!
Wayne K .Kings Mountain, NCDecember 3, 2008Senator Demint definitely deserves the seat on the Finance Committee. He is a fighter for lower taxes and less government and that is what we need.
Chris B .Bath, OHDecember 3, 2008Republicans putting a conservative on the finance committee, seems like a good step in rebuilding the small government brand.
Tom G .Apollo Beach, FLDecember 3, 2008DeMint is one of the great leaders of our day. He stands for sound fiscal managment and stewardship of the peoples money.
Nan S .Arlington, VADecember 3, 2008DeMint's da man! Senator DeMint truly understands the dangers of government intervention in free markets and is a consistently principled leader.
Brendan S .Alexandria, VADecember 3, 2008Make it DeMint! Senator Mitch McConnell has an opportunity to show that he got the message during the last election: the GOP needs to live up to its ideals of lower taxes, less government and more freedom. Senator DeMint is the right man for the job on the Finance Committee!
Test T .Bradenton, FLDecember 3, 2008If every Republican was like Senator DeMint, the GOP would still have a majority in Congress and the economy would be growing.
