Cheryl P .Rancho Cordova, CADecember 4, 2008Our government spending needs to be reigned in. Our finances are a mess due to spending more than is brought in. There is plenty of money brought in it is just spent wrong.
William C .Tinley Park, ILDecember 4, 2008NO NEW TAXES!!!!
Michelle E .Glenwood, IADecember 4, 2008x
John J .Lansing, KSDecember 4, 2008Sen DeMint is one of the few who "get it" and a sorely needed Conservative. Place him where he can be most effective in turning this spending spree around! Thank you, yet-another-John J
Perrin B .Columbia, SCDecember 4, 2008Our government throwing money at the problem is not the answer. Senator DeMint is one of the few who understands this concept, and therefore he should be appointed to the Finance Committee.
Jeannine H .Jacksonville, FLDecember 4, 2008x
Bob and Laura C .Bay City, TXDecember 4, 2008With the financial situation the way it is now I feel that it is imperative that our government exercise some extreme, but sane, financial judgements on the budgetfor the remainder of this year, and possibly for the hext few years to come. I have had to cut my budget drastically, why can't the federal budget be given the same oversight as that of most of our citiaens?
Etsuko P .Gilbert, AZDecember 4, 2008The Republican Party is successful only when it stands on its traditional principles, thus presenting a clearly discernible, appealing alternative to the Democrats' socialism.

John J .West Palm Beach, FLDecember 4, 2008We have to be proactive. Free programs are not free, somebody has to pay. Someone has to hold the responsible parties accountable and stop the "spend and bailout" parade with some sound fiscal policies.

Wilford S .Irmo, SCDecember 4, 2008I've been disappointed in the Republican party's straying from one of their conservative principles. IT's time to put a stop to outrageous earmarks and other spending. Put Sen. DeMint on the Finance committee now!!

Kathleen B .Venice, FLDecember 4, 2008Our Government will TOTALLY FAIL if we do not get back to Constitutional Spending.
Larry M .Edmond, OKDecember 4, 2008We need someone to help stop the overwhelming government spending and to look at the real situation...and to stop all the bailouts. Its only band-aiding the inevitable. Let Capitalism work this mess out.

Keith F .Coffeyville, KSDecember 4, 2008x
William P .Manvel, TXDecember 4, 2008Like many, many other voters, I voted for Republicans for the past 20 years based on their promises of fiscal conservatism, lower government spending and lower personal taxes. Senator's DeMint appears to be one of the few Republicans who remembers and keeps those promises. His appointment to and aggressive participation on the Finance Committee should provice a welcome refocus on a fiscally conservative agenda.
Leonard B .Toledo, OHDecember 4, 2008x
Maria F .East Glacier Park, MTDecember 4, 2008I want DeMint on the Senate Finance Committee.
Nancy J .Vadnais Heights, MNDecember 4, 2008It is time to get back to our conservative principles and our party platform. Stop the spending!!!!! We need Jim DeMint on the Finance Committee to save us from this runaway government spending. "Government is not the solution, government is the problem."

Mary T .The Villages, FLDecember 4, 2008We need a Republican who will act like a Republican.
Paula G .Ellsworth, MEDecember 4, 2008I am angry! I am fed up with being the puppet for the elite in this country who drive society. I feel like citizens are nothing more than cattle being led to slaughter. I work hard and pay my taxes only to have Washington piss it away. I bet none of them are losing sleep wondering how they're going to pay their morgage or put food on the table. I think they should have to go out in the real world and get a real job. They should have to earn their income based on performance just like the rest of us. It must be nice to get payed even when you don't do your job!
Steve J .hollywood, FLDecember 4, 2008x
Mary C .Stewartville, MNDecember 4, 2008Now more than ever, we need strong conservative representation on key committees to combat the inevitable run away spending the Obama administration will push on the people. Senator DeMint and real conservatives like him are the only hope this country has to stop unprecedented expansion of the federal government.
Deborah H .Ft. Lauderdale, FLDecember 4, 2008I am tired of our representatives not allowing the free market system to work. Let those that screwed up go out of business. They will file bankruptcy or be bought out by those who followed sound practices. As for the car mfgs, it will also teach the unions to not be so greedy. Supporting unsound practices only teaches that those practices may be continued.
Rose D .Fayetteville, NCDecember 4, 2008We need a man like this who has responsible beliefs about spending.
Andrew B .Fredonia, AZDecember 4, 2008x
Jesse M .Johnson City, TNDecember 4, 2008x

Donnie H .North Augusta, SCDecember 4, 2008x
Heather I .Seattle, WADecember 4, 2008After seeing Jim Demint speak at a committee meeting, about the bailout, I see that he can and will be a great representation of our party and beliefs.
Amanda M .St. Augustine, FLDecember 4, 2008x
Randall G .South Milwaukee, WIDecember 4, 2008Kowtowing to the liberals has gotten us no where! We need to get back to the conservative values that made the party resonate with Americans. We need a 2nd "Reagan" revolution.
Douglas K .Olathe, KSDecember 4, 2008Sen. Jim DeMint is the kind of plain-spoken, rock-solid voice that US citizens need to hear from the conservative part of the Republican party. With this appointment, he will be a more frequent guest on news and political TV programs. He can fight against further lunacy, such as bailouts for Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae.
Patrick B .Houston, TXDecember 4, 2008x
James S .Hubert, NCDecember 4, 2008It is past time to get back where we ought to be as Republicans, spelled CONSERVATIVE. I believe Jim Demint to be one.
Ruth F .Davie, FLDecember 4, 2008If possible, remind president-elect Obama that he is to be president of ALL the people, including conservative Republicans like me. He did sort of promise, did he not? Ruth (Nearly 88 and I still care about the future of my descendants.)
William B .Harriman, NYDecember 4, 2008We need true conservatives with integrity in congressional leadership positions. DeMint voted against the last $700 billion bailout in October and so I feel comfortable in supporting him now. I only wish he were taking over from you, Senator McConnell - since unlike DeMint, you voted in favor of socialism, deficits, and debt in October. Frankly, I find it hard to trust you.
